Seed to seal
I can't stop smiling. Last weekend was such an incredible time. I was so lucky to be able to go to the Young Living convention in Salt Lake City, Utah. The people I met, and the life giving conversations that I had just can't be matched. Through the stories, the education, and the origins of this company, I found even greater purpose in what I am doing. This was an experience I will never forget.
My husband flew in later than me, so we went to the YL farm on a different day than the rest of our team. We drove together to Mona, Utah to go and check out the seed to seal process. We spent our time on the farm, witnessing the very grounds and distillery that some of our beloved oils have come from. We did a full tour of the property, which was drop dead gorgeous, surrounded by the mountains, and covered in some of my favorite plants :)
Lunch was included in our admission, and was so delicious! The BBQ sauce was made with clean ingredients, sweetened with agave, I was one happy visitor! We grabbed a ningxia slushie, tested available products, walked around to see the animals, and then headed into the distillery.
This is where things really hit home for me. We could see how the oil and water separated from one another in the distilling process. The whole process is something I've read about but never seen before. The floral water that is left over is bottled by some companies and then labeled as "pure essential oils" unfortunately since there is no law against this. I believe that is where a lot of confusion comes from when people refer to pure oils as expensive. The real deal, the ones that I want for my family, those are undiluted oils. They are potent and powerful, one drop goes a long way. When you break it down, they are actually more cost effective.
Under the right temperatures, the oils (that are called the lifeblood of the plant) maintain their therapeutic benefits. After the floral water is taken away, the oil is filtered, bottled and tested for purity and for chemical constituents. The oils are shipped to us to use for multi system support. They are amazing gifts that we were given and I will forever be grateful to the friend who introduced me to real, pure oils. A life changed.
I interviewed several employees while I was there, asking them how they liked their jobs, what their responsibilities were etc. So many of them said that they really appreciated learning. How to grow what we need, how to create sustainable practices so that we could flourish here on earth, how to do it the right way, without pesticides. They were so kind, happy, and appreciative of their job on the farm. This is what it is all about.
After the distillery, we headed up to the greenhouses, to see the seeds, sprouts, and replanting process. Following the greenhouse stay the plants are transported into the soil outside and grown until their peak when they will be harvested and distilled. It is such a real, amazing process and I feel so grateful to have been a part of it that day.
I went from loving my oils, to understanding their value, where they come from, and knowing that they were created for a purpose, for my health and wellness more than anything.
Seed to seal is unmatched in the industry. This company owns their own farms and does the strict testing necessary to make sure things are done right. I had no idea when I bought my starter kit, what an impact it would have on my life.
I am so grateful.
