A weekend at the beach

Last weekend Riley and I camped with a group  at a beach just South of Half Moon Bay. After plenty of time around the campfire we headed to bed. So many memories of sleeping in our little tent come to mind every time I use it. We journaled in that tent for a month in a half in New Zealand. Every night we would turn on our solar night light and record our discoveries and adventures from the day. Riley use to set it up in record time, always doing it by himself so that I didn't have to after a long day of hiking <3There have been nights where the storm was beating the sides of the tent down, bending the poles so that they are almost touching us.. while we layed in silence with nothing to do but watch with wide open eyes at three am. It has kept us dry during downpours and given us a safe space during so many nights. Our tent is our tiny home.

The night was unexpectedly cold, I was unable to fall asleep because of the temperature. Riley is always a sweetheart and he got up to boil water, dumped all of it into a water bottle for me to sleep with. It was so comforting and the next thing I knew I was waking up to the same white noise of the waves, in addition to a rising sun that was rapidly warming the entire beach. This is the best I have ever slept camping. I was so happy!!

Our little home away from home

A walk on the beach first thing in the morning. Don't you wish every day could start like that?

There was a short but steep hike down to the beach, he carried everything of course. Always a gentleman. I actually have to try and not gush about how much I love him, for fear of annoying people :P But I truly found the nicest man I've ever met, and I married him. I am so grateful for this guy <3

To end the weekend we stopped in Palo Alto (a place that I randomly lived at for three months, about two years ago) and tried sushirrito for the first time :P It was so good to be back in a place that I left, never knowing if I would see it again. life is so weird, and so amazing!
